Guest Register

An open forum for the Veteran's of the Vietnam War and those with concerns about the state of affairs in Washington DC

This visitor register will also serve my two other websites -

If you are interested in genealogy and history - please visit the GATHERING AROUND THE OLD OAK TREE discussion board  - http://www.guestbookcentral.com/guestbook.cfm?guestbook=62343

As with my other guest book - this is part journal and part guest book. If you don't agree with my opinions, feel free to express your own views. I encourage visitors to tell it like it is - the way they see it. We can't all be wrong.

If you are a first time visitor, don't forget to register. When you register and create a user account, it makes it much easier to use the guestbook. It does not cost anything and it only takes a few minutes to register. After you register, your e-mail address will not be displayed to the public, unless you put it in the body of a post. I will not be able to see your e-mail address. You will be identified by a unique user name that you specify. Your e-mail address will be kept in a protected profile that you will create. My user name displayed on the screen is "drphill". Necessary notifications will automatically be sent to the e-mail address you have on file in your profile. With a registered account, editing and deleting your posts will be easier. You don't have to worry about entering the dreaded CAPTCHA keys - which is a big pain for me. Just log in and go.

The guestbook is straight forward and easy to use. I have tried to make it user friendly for old geezers like me.  I will monitor the posts often to eliminate spam. Editing will be minimal.

You may ask - what good does it do to spout off here? For one thing, it provides us all with a way to vent off some steam. It also allows us with a way to exchange ideas and express differing points of view. I am inviting some of my favorite politicians (some that are not among my favorites) to participate here. Who knows - maybe a few of them will drop in and read some of this. If you want to log in as a anonymous user, use whatever name you want ("Anonymous" is acceptable) with the email address [email protected].

This is an open forum and you can write about anything that is on your mind. Have fun!

My father Master Sergeant Denver Young, served in Vietnam starting April 1967 at PhuKat  Air Force Base.  I believe he was a munitions expert and had something to do with the canteen, the "Oasis" there at the base.  He helped organize a baseball league for the children there at PhuKat. There were letters home to family about him debriefing his military supervisors about the latest weaponry and booby-traps being used by the Viet Cong.  My dad made it home from Vietnam only to die in a car crash in 1978  so I can never ask him about his time in Vietnam but I want to know everything.  Anyone that could help shed any light on any of this would be so greatly appreciated!!!!  Thank you for your service to this country and God bless you all!!!!!

We need to make many changes in the way we do business as a nation. We have very little control over our immigration service and that program needs a major revamp. Our Homeland Security program is a big mess. There is no one stepping up to accept responsibility for it and make the hard decisions that will get everyone  to work to straighten it all out. Our President should provide that leadership - this one is not doing it.

A bill has been passed by the House of Representatives that will slow down this mass immigration and require reasonable security checks. It is expected to be go through the Senate, with a few minor changes. President Obama said he will veto it, but - if he does - there should still be enough votes to override it. It is a real shame when the President of the United States puts concerns about his personal populaity among the Muslim countries ahead of the safety of his own people.

Watching FOX News - they are saying the Senate will not consider this bill until after Thanksgiving and Harry Reid and the Democrats are working to block it. President Obama says he will veto it, if it makes it to him. and he is confident that the veto will stand up. Quite a fiasco for sure  but we will see how it plays out. It should be intereesting - with lots of fire works.

I am keeping up with the potential candidates for next years Presidential Election. So far - I have pretty much eliminated all of the Democrats and about three quarters of the Republicans but it is too early to make any serious picks. I still watch and listen to what they have to say. A miracle may happen.

Big surprise for me: I agree with about 95 percent of what Donald Trump says.

I believe ISIS is feeling the pain from the stepped up bombing strikes by aircraft from Russia, France and the U.S. Let's keep it up and step it up even more.

I am glad to see Paul Ryan take over as Speaker of the House. It is a step in the right direction but we need to change many other key players - starting at the top.

I am a simple man but I am not stupid. I resent the way President Barrack Obama talks down to us. I don't like the double talk we hear from Secretary of State John Kerry. I do not like being lied to by Hillary Clinton. I am not a Republican but I am damned sure  not a Democrat.

You got that right, old man!

There will never be another Ronald Reagan or JFK. Too bad!
